THE ISLAND
A space for practice, creation, and artistic exchange
Located in the Collserola area near Barcelona, The Island is Wonderground's studio, research and creation space, and a home for Movement Archery. Set in a non-urbanised natural landscape, the 180-square-metre former stable is a place for movement practice, rehearsals, creation, workshops, laboratories and artistic exchange.
The Island is to our artistic practice what a canvas is to a painter.
At its centre is a 100-square-metre wooden dance floor, built by Tom and Roser specifically for movement and performance practice. Since opening in November 2023, The Island has hosted Wonderground's creations and rehearsals, Movement Archery workshops and laboratories, and exchanges with other artists.
The Island brings artistic practice into close contact with the surrounding landscape. Its location allows movement, research and conversation to unfold away from the pace of the city, creating a space for concentration, experimentation and exchange.
